Question 1

Why should I choose you over other personalized book services?

Accepted Answer

The biggest difference is the consistency between the images. Most services only keep track of the characters you add yourself, and everything else is described in text alone. That means places, objects, temporary characters and clothes quietly change from page to page. We keep track of the appearance of every character, including the ones the story invents along the way, of every place that appears more than once, of every important object and of every outfit a character wears. The same little room therefore looks the same every time, a magic backpack keeps its design, and a character can dress for a snowstorm on one page and still clearly be the same character on the next.

Question 2

How personal can the book actually get?

Accepted Answer

Far more personal than a name printed into a ready made story. You choose who is in the book, from the child and their siblings to grandparents, friends and pets, and you can give every character their own personality, hobbies, likes and fears. You decide the story as well, either by writing your own idea or by picking one of our suggestions, and you can add specific events that have to happen along the way. You also choose the art style and the language the book is written in. Everything beyond a name is optional, so you can add as much or as little as you want.

Question 3

What does a book cost and what do I get for it?

Accepted Answer

One digital book costs $7.99. For that you get a finished book with a front cover and a story spread over roughly fifteen illustrated pages, with one illustration on every page. You can read it in the app, download it as a PDF and keep editing it for as long as you like. A printed hardcover is optional and costs from $39.99 plus shipping, ordered separately once your book is finished, so you always see how the book turned out before you decide.

Question 4

When will my book be ready?

Accepted Answer

The digital book starts generating as soon as you have paid and is usually ready in 10 to 30 minutes. Everything happens on our servers, so you can close the page and go do something else, or stay and follow the progress live. You get an email when generation starts and another when the book is finished, and from there you can read it, edit it and download it as a PDF. If you want a printed copy you order it afterwards.

Question 5

Do I have to upload a photo of my child?

Accepted Answer

No. You can upload a photo if you want to, and with a photo the character will look as close to the real person as possible. You can just as well describe how the character looks in your own words. Whichever you choose, the character looks the same from page to page, so a photo is never required.

Question 6

What if I don't like the finished book?

Accepted Answer

You can edit the book once it has been generated. Text can be rewritten and individual images can be regenerated, so a single page that did not turn out the way you hoped does not spoil the book. And if something has clearly gone wrong, for example a character that does not match the description you gave, or a story that does not follow what you asked for, we will either generate a new book for you or give you your money back.

Question 7

How do you keep the characters looking the same on every page?

Accepted Answer

Before any page is illustrated we create a reference image for every character. We also do it for places that appear more than once and for important objects in the story, so the same room looks like the same room and a magic backpack keeps the same design. On top of that we create a separate reference for every outfit a character needs, which means a character can dress for a snowstorm on one page and still be recognisable on the next.

Question 8

Are the stories and illustrations AI generated?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The story is written by AI from the details you give us, and every illustration is generated. What sets the result apart is not the image model itself but everything we do around it. Before a single page is drawn we work out every character, place, object and outfit the story needs and create a reference image for each one, and each page is then illustrated against those references. That is a lot of steps for one book, which is why generation takes a while, and it is the reason the finished book holds together instead of drifting from page to page.

Question 9

How does the book creation process work?

Accepted Answer

You start by adding information about the recipient, including the child's age, so the story can be tailored appropriately. Then you add the characters, choose how they should look, and include any details that help bring them to life. After that, you choose the story. You can write your own idea from scratch or use one of our story suggestions. You can also add a specific event or moment you would like included, and then choose an art style for the book. Once everything is ready, you purchase the digital book and it begins generating. When it is finished, you can review it, edit it, download it as a PDF, and order a printed copy if you would like one shipped to your home.

Question 10

What is the difference between Standard mode and Create Together mode?

Accepted Answer

In Standard mode, you fill in all the details up front and the full book is created from that information. It is the fastest and simplest way to make a book. In Create Together mode, the story is built step by step. You generate a few pages at a time, review the text, make changes, and then decide what should happen next. This mode gives you more control over the story as it develops and makes the creation process feel more interactive.
